Causes of Hand and Wrist Injuries

Hand and wrist injuries can be the result of a few incidences. They can happen when an athlete is performing during a game or recreational activity; during a work-related task; completing chores and normal activities around the house; and can be the direct result of an accidental fall. The overuse of the hand and wrist can also cause injuries. These types of overuse injuries can occur from conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain’s disease.

Hand and Wrist Injury Signs and Symptoms

Patients who experience hand and wrist injuries usually notice swelling, pain, bruising and hand or wrist deformity. Limited to no ability to move or put weight on the hand or wrist can also be signs of a hand or writ injury.
